Properly Pack And Label Porcelain Collectibles
If you have a showroom that is currently filled with porcelain collectibles that are going to be transported to a new home that you have recently purchased, pack and label the items with the following steps. Carefully preparing the collectibles prior to moving day will prevent unforeseen damages and will allow you to keep track of the location of each piece.
Materials
- duster
- tube socks
- packing tape
- cotton batting
- scissors
- roll of bubble wrap
- self-adhesive labels
- permanent marker
- notebook
- pen
- large cartons with dividers
- packing peanuts
- newspaper
- fragile stickers
Dust Off Each Piece And Wrap Them Inside Of Socks Or Cotton Batting
Use a duster to remove loose debris from the outside of each porcelain piece. Place small collectibles inside of tube socks. Wrap the end of each sock around the piece that is inside of it. Secure the socks with strips of packing tape. Use cotton batting to cover large porcelain pieces. Trim the batting with scissors, once a collectible is covered evenly with the material. Secure the ends of the batting with a couple pieces of packing tape.
Add A Layer Of Bubble Wrap And Label Each Item
Lay each porcelain piece that is covered with a sock or batting on a piece of bubble wrap. Roll the bubble wrap firmly around each item. Secure strips of packing tape across the loose ends of bubble wrap. Place an adhesive label across one side of each wrapped porcelain piece. Use a permanent marker to identify what is wrapped inside of each of the packing materials. Create a master list inside of a notebook that contains the same information.
Place Porcelain Pieces Inside Of Cartons
Purchase several large cartons that contain dividers from a moving supply business. Line the bottom of each section in the box with packing peanuts or a couple layers of bubble wrap. Place each item inside of one of the sections. Fill in gaps around any of the pieces with crumpled up newspaper or packing peanuts. Use packing tape to secure each carton.
Label the outside of each carton with its contents. Add fragile stickers to the outsides of the cartons so that the moving crew that you hire to assist with transporting the items to your new home will be extra careful while handling each one. Once the collectibles have been moved to your new home, you will be able to locate each porcelain item with ease and can display them inside of your new surroundings.
